Welcome to Economic Support

The Economic Support Unit has the responsibility to determine eligibility and case manage financial assistance programs. Staff meets with clients on an individual basis to determine their eligibility for program request. All applications are confidential and clients are able to discuss their personal financial situation as necessary. Referrals are done by the unit to appropriate resources.

Programs

Food Share

Food Share may be able to help you improve your nutrition and health. Food Share applications are available by mail or in person to set your filing date of eligibility. If eligible for benefits they are deposited in an Electronic Benefit account for your access. You may also apply online at http://www.access.wisconsin.gov

Medical Assistance

You may choose to apply for Medical Assistance by mail, telephone or in person. To obtain an application or to apply in person you need to contact our pre-screening staff person who will assist you. That phone number is 649-5702. You may also apply online at http://www.access.wisconsin.gov

Child Care Assistance

Child Care assistance is intended for individuals who are working and have children in certified or licenses day care. Your income needs to fall within the income limits. An application and appointment may be obtained by contacting the unit lead for Day Care applications at 649-5702.

The goal of this program is to provide necessary and appropriate services to prepare you for employment. The program is an employment driven one and applications are available by contacting the agency during business hours.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP)

The Energy Assistance program is operated from October through May 15th of each year. You may obtain an appointment by calling 649-5720 for that appointment date and time. The unit also administers crisis and proactive funds during the entire year and that information is available by contacting our agency during regular business hours. If you are a homeowner and your furnace needs replacement or repair you may also be eligible for assistance with this program.

Office hours are 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Workers are available by appointment and by voice mail.
New applicants are welcome to apply any time and if preferred may see
our Pre- Screener from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. daily.

EBT Activation

The State of Wisconsin has converted Food Share to an Electronic Benefit transfer system. Benefits are deposited into the client's account each month. Staff is available to help clients activate their cards daily from 11:30 - 1200.
