The Richland County Veterans Service Office has a 17.5 hr/wk opening for an Assistant County Veterans Service Officer.
This will be a County Board appointed position according to Wis. Stat. 45.80 (7) (b). Applicant must be a Wisconsin resident who served on active duty under honorable conditions in the U.S. armed forces or in forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed forces for two consecutive years.
Employees in this position consistently exercise judgment and discretion in providing claims representation services to military veterans and their family members regarding their rights and responsibilities under state and federal veterans’ laws.
Along with an honorable discharge (DD 214), a vocational/technical diploma in clerical skills with one year clerical experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation. Applicant will perform clerical duties assigned by the Veterans Service Officer or oversight committee. Skills testing will be required. Current starting salary of $14.97 per hour with an increase to $15.39 after a probationary period of no less than six months. May be eligible for certain County benefits based on Wisconsin Retirement Regulations.
